As Seoul’s first IB Continuum school, Dwight School Seoul extends beyond the confines of the classroom through its annual “Week Without Walls (WWW)” program for MYP and DP students (Grades 6–11).
Dwight School Seoul aims to support students achieve holistic growth beyond academic success by strengthening their competencies as global citizens through diverse experiences and challenges. During WWW week, students travel to a country and region of their choice and participate not in a simple school trip, but in a variety of hands-on activities such as local community service, cultural exploration, environmental projects, and welfare-related work. Through these experiences, students gain an understanding of new cultures and environments while learning the values of social responsibility, cooperation, and empathy.
In particular, the 2025 program featured meaningful service projects connected to local communities. This allowed students not only to travel, but also to engage with local societies and develop problem-solving skills.
Kyle Morgan Thomas, Principal of the Upper School, stated, “WWW is an essential part of our curriculum that enables students to step beyond the boundaries of the classroom and directly experience and learn from diverse cultures around the world.” He added, “We hope that through this program, students will grow into global leaders and naturally develop the empathy and sense of responsibility needed in multicultural societies.”
During this year’s trip to Bali, students participated in activities such as coral planting and seedling cultivation, contributing to the restoration of coral ecosystems. One student reflected, “By planting coral myself, I realized for the first time how important and challenging it is to protect the marine environment,” adding, “It was rewarding to know that even my small efforts could help restore the ocean ecosystem.”
Following the 2025 WWW program, Dwight School Seoul continues to develop a wide range of international experiences and service projects to further expand students’ learning opportunities. The school expects these activities to significantly contribute to students’ critical thinking, creativity, and global mindset.
