HISTORY

Dwight School’s legacy dates back to 1872 as a landmark educational institution in New York City, and we celebrate 150 years of igniting the spark of genius in every child. Dwight was designed to prepare graduates for admission to prestigious universities, and our namesake is Yale’s twelfth president, Timothy Dwight V.

Dwight Seoul, founded in 2012, continues the legacy of innovation and personalized learning as the best IB Continuum School in Seoul. It is the only school selected by the Seoul Municipal Government to open a model IB World School in Seoul.

Today, Dwight Seoul is part of the global network of Dwight Schools.

FIRST SCHOOL IN THE AMERICAS TO OFFER THE IB CURRICULUM

Dwight School set the stage for the IBDP curriculum in the Americas by becoming the first school to offer the IB curriculum from early years through secondary school.

FIRST SCHOOL TO BRING THE IB PYP TO NEW YORK CITY

Dwight School became the first school in New York City to provide grade school children with the opportunity to enrol in the IB Primary Years Program.

FIRST SCHOOL IN THE UNITED STATES TO ESTABLISH AN INTERNATIONAL CAMPUS

The first Dwight School international campus was established in London in 1972.

FIRST SCHOOL TO CREATE A JOINT DIPLOMA PROGRAM IN CHINA

In 2009, Dwight School launched an innovative joint diploma program at Capital Normal High School in Beijing.

ONLY SCHOOL SELECTED TO BE A MODEL IB WORLD SCHOOL IN SEOUL

Dwight was the only school selected by the Seoul Municipal Government to become a model IB World School.

ONE OF SIX SCHOOLS SELECTED TO PILOT IB ONLINE EDUCATION

In 2013, Dwight was chosen from a pool of 3,700 schools to pilot an IB online education program.

FIRST SCHOOL TO LAUNCH A COLLABORATIVE HIGH SCHOOL IN CHINA

Dwight Schools opened the Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School. As a non-profit, independent, Chinese-foreign collaboration, this high school offered local students a one-of-a-kind experience.
