Primary Years Program
Dwight’s IB PYP is offered for students in grade 1 – grade 5. Students in grade 1 explore 5 units of inquiry. Grades 2-5 explore six units of inquiry, which fall under six transdisciplinary themes of global significance -Who We Are; Where We are in Place and Time; How We Express Ourselves; How the World Works; How We Organize Ourselves; Sharing the Planet – and incorporate six PYP subject areas: mathematics, science, social studies, language, arts and physical, social and personal education.

The IB learner profile puts things in perspective for learners by discovering their potential based on interests and strengths. In addition to academic competency, the profile aims at developing skills for learners including:

1. What subjects are included in the IB PYP?
At Dwight, the IB PYP is offered from Grade 1 to Grade 5. Students explore key concepts through Units of Inquiry that integrate six subject areas: mathematics, science, social studies, language, the arts, and physical, social, and personal education.
